Discover the wide range of different leather qualities

Leather is a wonderful, lively material that accompanies us for many years, so our experienced partners make sure that our bags are carefully processed.

Basically, the many different types of leather can be divided into two groups: smooth leather and full-grain leather. In the case of smooth leather, the skin top of the leather is used, so that the skin's specific characteristics such as pores or wrinkles remain visible. Smooth leather sorts are therefore more natural than suede and, in spite of the term "smooth", are always structured and grained in certain degrees. The extent to which the natural skin structure of the leather is still recognizable depends on the final finishing.

Full-grain leather (also known as suede or nubuck) is sanded (roughened) before further processing.

Vintage

It is a very natural and very high quality leather, which is only refined with wax and oil. Particularly valuable in the processing of this leather quality is the naturalness of the leather, which only strengthens its robustness and makes it even more durable. The oils and waxes emphasize the soft shades in the leather and create subtle color variations.

Characteristic of "Vintage" are the slight lightening of the leather over time as well as the visible use traces, which show in use by kinking and stretching on the leather. This creates a wonderful, completely individual patina.

Suede

Suede is a kind of full-grain leather. There description includes two different processing possibilities of the leather. If it refers to the underside of a skin or a layer of the split leather skin, this type of full-grain leather is called suede. However, there is also the possibility that the upper side of the leather is roughened and further processed as a full-grain leather. This is professionally called nubuck.

Characteristic for suede is the velvety-soft handle. Compared to smooth leather, suede is more sensitive to moisture, but can be well protected with proper care and impregnation.
