Special date/gift ideas for Valentine's Day or just because
Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Every year on February 14th, people give roses, confess their love, and even get married. Valentine's Day is the day of the year when it's especially important to spend time with your partner and show how much you care.
Valentine's Day is a great opportunity to try something new and, instead of going to the same old Italian restaurant, plan a more unusual date. That's why we thought it was time to gather some cool date ideas from the myBagFactory team. The 5 date or gift ideas from Kathi, Katha, Katrin, Anastasia, and Kay are, of course, suitable for more than just Valentine's Day. Have fun getting inspired! :)
Anastasia: Discovering street art together
My husband and I have been together for 10 years, so a romantic Valentine's Day dinner is nice, but not particularly exciting; we've had it many times before.
We'd rather experience something together. This year we've planned a street art tour through Munich.
The city has a diverse and colorful street art scene. You can easily admire some of the most beautiful graffiti by bike or on foot. Afterwards, there's still time for your favorite pasta at your local Italian restaurant. That's why I'll be bringing a nice little bag 😊
Of course, street art isn't limited to Munich; many other cities also have interesting street art. If the weather is bad, a visit to a museum is also a good alternative.
Kathi: Explore the city and leave your comfort zone with Truth or Dare
Like probably every other girl, I dream of a date like at Breakfast at Tiffany's. Excluding the part where they steal something, of course.
Basically, they play Truth or Dare in New York. (But more like dare, and unfortunately, not in New York.)
It's simply about doing whatever spontaneously comes to mind to escape your beloved comfort zone and simply have fun. Duties here could include, for example, the following:
- Singing in a karaoke bar (for beginners, for example, the song Tequila)
- Trying food you've never had before. (I've never had Ethiopian food.)
- Buy the other person an item of clothing/accessory that they must then wear until the end of the date.
- Dancing in the street
- Sneaking into a party with a guest list
Or just whatever comes to mind. It's sure to be fun, and you might even get to see a whole new side of your partner. The best part: You'll definitely have something to talk about after the date!
Katha: Group Gin Tasting
A cool Valentine's Day date I had with my partner was a gin tasting (wine, beer, or something else is fine too, of course). There's sure to be a distillery, small shop, or restaurant near you that offers such an experience. If the date doesn't work, a voucher is also a great Valentine's Day gift idea. During the tasting, you'll learn about the origin and production of each drink and, of course, get to try a few different versions. I recommend bringing or wearing appropriate clothing and a clutch , etc. Maybe you'll be in the mood to hit the clubs or bars for a bit afterward .
Katrin: Wellness day for two
Who would say no to a bit of wellness to escape the daily grind? I certainly wouldn't, and even less so when you're pampering yourselves as a couple. There are several options for this, all of which are weather-independent. If you have a little advance notice, you can book a massage or an appointment at a spa (a voucher is always a good option, of course 😊 ). For those who decide at short notice, I also think a day at the thermal spa is a great way to relax a bit. They usually also have a sauna area for that extra dose of wellness. Whether it's a massage, thermal spa, or sauna, everything is a great way for me to get out and relax a bit. For a date that's similar to a day on vacation for two, a fancy dinner and a glass of wine are a must afterward to round off the day nicely.
Kay: Lama or Alpaca Hike
Animals and nature, what could be better? Perhaps there's an operator near you that offers a llama or alpaca hike. Here, you can experience unique and certainly fun moments with these fascinating animals and get back in touch with nature. My tip: bring a backpack and treat yourself to a delicious picnic in the fresh air during or after the hike (with some warmer clothing, this is also possible in February).
Five myBagFactory date experiences and ideas that are definitely a great alternative to going to the movies, cooking, and the like. Perhaps there's one or two unusual date ideas you can surprise your partner with. The most important thing on a date is to have a great time together and, ideally, to experience something you'll remember and talk about for a long time.
We hope you have fun trying it out and have a happy Valentine’s Day!
