Close your suitcase and go… A trip to Prague

Don't we all just want to get away, escape from everyday life, and experience something new? How often have you thought about spontaneously throwing everything into your suitcase and hopping on the next train, but then decided not to? That's over now! In our blog, we want to give you more inspiration for spontaneous short trips to various places in Europe: a la "pack your bags and go..." We're starting with a short trip to Prague. Maybe this will awaken your wanderlust! 😉

For those who don't know: Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and, while known for its fantastic nightlife, has much more to offer. Above all, Prague is a very beautiful city where you can discover and experience a lot on a budget.

From Munich in about 6 hours and from Berlin in about 4 hours, you can reach the city easily and inexpensively by train. If you want, you can easily book a hotel with your train ticket; you can find some deals here. Otherwise, there's also a large selection of hostels, as well as budget or luxury hotels in the city. So, you shouldn't have any trouble finding a place to stay at short notice for one or two nights.

So, once you've packed your beautiful suitcase or leather travel bag and arrived in Prague, you're ready to go. Whether you arrive in the Czech capital in the morning, at lunchtime, or in the afternoon, you should first stop in one of the city's many beautiful cafés. What many people don't realize is that Prague isn't far from becoming a coffeehouse city like London, Berlin, or New York. This is partly due to Czech coffee roasters, who don't shy away from trends and are entirely dedicated to coffee. On the other hand, there are delicious Czech pastries to accompany your coffee, such as kolaches, Gugelhupf, or cream puffs. But that's not all, of course... it's the architecture, design, and art, which can be found in both old and new cafés, as well as the affordable price of the coffee, that make the city's coffeehouses so special.

If you arrive in the city in the evening, it's definitely worth exploring the city's nightlife or relaxing with a beer in a bar. Like us in Germany, the Czechs are extremely proud of their beer. This "pivo" is available not only from famous breweries, but also from numerous microbreweries in the Czech Republic. Whether you like it better than Munich beer is up to you. It's definitely worth trying! 😊

Aside from good coffee and beer, there are plenty of other things to see in the Czech capital. Perhaps the most famous highlight is the Charles Bridge . It spans the Vltava, the river that separates the Old Town from the Lesser Town. During the day, you'll find many artists, vendors, and street musicians here. But you shouldn't miss the illuminated bridge and the Old Town in the evening either. The romantic atmosphere there is definitely inviting for a long stroll. Also close to the bridge is Prague Castle. This is another highlight of the city, and from there you have a beautiful view of the city.

For anyone who enjoys Instagramming or graffiti, the Lennon Wall is a highlight in Prague. This wall used to be just a boring old wall until it was first decorated by graffiti artists in the 1980s. It's called the John Lennon Wall because it's decorated with Beatles lyrics and pictures. The cool thing is that anyone can immortalize themselves here; all you need is a spray can and you can spray something on the wall yourself. That's why the artwork changes daily, so the next time you're in Prague, the wall might look completely different.

For a special and stylish highlight, consider a visit to the opera . The Prague Opera is housed in a charming Neo-Renaissance building with a richly decorated interior and offers a diverse opera program for every taste.

In addition to the highlights already mentioned, there's much more to experience in Prague, which would probably exceed the scope of a short trip. We recommend simply strolling through the city, admiring the beautiful alleys and works of art, enjoying Prague's coffee, going out in the evening, and visiting a couple of other highlights. Of course, a small handbag for the evening and a city backpack for the day are essential in your luggage!

So, let's be a little adventurous and spontaneous! Pack your bags and go.
